Reconstruction Support After the Great East Japan Earthquake

Providing financial support by way of scholarships to children in need Riso Kyoiku Iwasa Public Interest Incorporated Foundation Great East Japan Earthquake Relief Fund The Riso Kyoiku Iwasa Public Interest Incorporated Foundation provides financial relief by way of scholarship money to children affected by the Great East Japan earthquake (up to 1.2 million yen per year). The scheme is aimed at high school and university students and is paid out upon entering university.

Our Recent Activities

Donaion/fund-raising activities

・Donated 55,000,000 yen via the Nihon Keizai Shimbun and the Asahi Shimbun Social Welfare Organization.

・Donated money raised by Riso Kyoiku Group employees through UNICEF japan.

・Raised funds from students and guardians of Riso Kyoiku Group and donated to causes in Miyagi Prefecture.

・Held charity ballet performances, concerts and pro baseball games and raised funds from spectators to go towards the disaster relief fund.

Providing Stationery Equipment

Donated and distributed 10,000 students’ worth of stationery equipment.

Educational Support

・Participated in Waseda University’s rebuilding project, sending portable classrooms to Miyagi and Fukushima Prefectures to hold science, sports and music lessons.

・Took part in another Waseda University scheme, sending science teachers to Sanrikucho town in Miyagi Prefecture, which lost its teaching facilities in the disaster.

・Providing one-on-one instruction to children via TOMAS’s online tutoring system.

Invitational Events

・Invited Little League team Miyagi Little Seniors to Tokyo Dome to watch a pro baseball match and donated new baseball equipment.

・Invited the football team of Minami-Sanriku Utatsu High School to Tokyo to watch a J League football match.

・Invited band members in the afflicted area to Tokyo to watch a performance by the Tokyo Philharmonic and take part in a joint performance at Suntory Hall.

・Invited the members of Fukushima United FC to Ajinomoto Stadium to watch a J League match and meet with the players after the game.
